VERONICA PRIEFER
Veronica Priefer is a writer and producer whose diverse background spans social science, advertising, and fiction, creating a unique fusion that informs her storytelling. She holds a Bachelor’s in Anthropology from SOAS, University of London, and a Master’s in Strategic Advertising Communication from Barcelona. Initially, Veronica worked with global brands like Nike and Audi, but she soon realized her true passion lay in storytelling, not in selling sneakers.
From 2018 to 2023, Veronica worked at UFA Fiction, where she held various roles including writer, head writer, executive producer, and creator. Her notable projects include Legal Affairs (ARD Degeto), The King of Palma (RTL+), and Helgoland 513 (Sky). Her approach to storytelling blends big-picture thinking with a keen eye for detail, all while fostering a highly collaborative process. Fluent in English and Spanish (thanks to a stint in Mexico), Veronica’s international experience brings a distinct perspective and flair to her work.
JOHANNES KUNKEL
Johannes Kunkel is a producer with a diverse background that spans film, TV, and commercials. He studied film production at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, where he began his career creating commercials before transitioning into TV production at UFA Fiction.
At UFA, Johannes quickly advanced, eventually producing Betonrausch (2019) for Netflix. He then co-created and produced the two-season historical series The King of Palma (RTL+) alongside Veronica Priefer. Their partnership continued with Helgoland 513, a post-apocalyptic series for Sky, which premiered in 2024. Johannes excels at creating a space for creative development, skillfully balancing the challenges of production with the freedom to explore and develop new ideas.
Having lived in both Ibiza and Mallorca, Johannes brings a fresh, open-minded approach to his work. His passion for painting and photography further enriches his creative process.
Every protagonist needs a best friend or helper who is going to stick around for the long haul. A character who represents the major ally / champion / partner-in-crime of the protagonist and helps to facilitate change in the protagonist.
